Staying Healthy and Happy at Camp WeHaKee

At Camp WeHaKee, the health and well-being of our campers are our top priorities. To help ensure that everyone has a safe and vibrant summer on Hunter Lake, we strongly recommend that all program participants are up to date with their vaccinations, following the guidance of the American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) most recent immunization schedule for children and adolescents, to help keep our community protected and ready for adventure.

Why We Value Immunizations

Overnight camp is a wonderful experience of shared living. Throughout the summer, girls from many different cities, states, and countries come together to live, play, and grow in close-knit groups. Because we spend so much of our time in close quarters, maintaining a high level of community health helps everyone stay active and engaged in camp activities.

WeHaKee has been a summer home for girls since 1923. For over 100 years, we have understood that a healthy camp is a happy camp. By following current medical recommendations from reputable sources, we work together to protect every member of our community—including those who may be more medically vulnerable—so that the focus can stay on making lifelong memories.

Following the AAP Guidelines

We suggest following the American Academy of Pediatrics' annual immunization schedule for children and adolescents aged 18 and under. Since medical guidance evolves, the AAP updates this schedule every year to reflect the best practices in pediatric health.

For summer 2026, we are requiring that all campers have at least one dose of a measles vaccination, based on recent outbreaks in the United States.

If you have any questions about whether your daughter is up to date, her pediatrician is a wonderful resource. They can review her history and help ensure she is prepared for a fun, uninterrupted summer at camp.
