Most summer jobs are seasonal. A paycheck, some experience, and a story for later, but a summer at Camp WeHaKee is something else.
Since 1923, this community has been shaping people, not just the girls who come as campers, but the counselors and staff who show up each summer and leave changed in ways they didn't expect. Many of them started as campers. Some have been coming back for decades.

WeHaKee was founded in 1923 by Sister David O'Leary on the shores of Green Bay. It moved to Hunter Lake in Winter, Wisconsin in 1963, and that lake, those pines, and that particular quality of Northwoods quiet have been the backdrop for everything that's happened since.
Over 100 years of summers. Thousands of girls who learned to take risks, lead, fail, try again, and come home braver than they arrived. That doesn't happen without the people who chose to spend their summers here.

What Working at WeHaKee Looks Like
You'll live on-site in the Northwoods of Wisconsin from June through early August. Your days will be full: leading activities, supervising cabin life, running waterfront, helping girls push past the moments they want to quit. It's demanding work. It's also some of the most rewarding work you'll find anywhere.
WeHaKee operates with a 2:1 staff-to-camper ratio and 4:1 counselor-to-camper ratio, with two counselors in every eight-girl cabin. You're not background staff. You're the reason a girl tries something she's never tried before, or writes a letter home saying she finally feels like she belongs somewhere.

Who We're Looking For
You don't need to have been a camper here. You do need to genuinely care about what happens for girls during the years they're figuring out who they are. You should be someone who shows up, follows through, and finds energy in community rather than losing it.
We hire counselors, activity specialists, waterfront staff, kitchen crew, and support staff. If you're curious about where you might fit, the best thing to do is apply and tell us about yourself. We'll figure out the rest together.

A Word from Stacie & Cory
Directors Stacie Simpson and Cory Harrison have spent their careers in camp leadership. Cory brings more than two decades of experience, most recently as VP of Overnight Camping at YMCA Camp Greenville. Stacie knows firsthand what it means to watch a girl realize she can do something she didn't think she could.
They look for staff who bring that same instinct, people who notice the girl sitting on the edge of the group, who don't let a hard moment become a shutting-down moment, who are genuinely happy to be somewhere like this.
