Girls Camp

Summer camp for girls 7-17 in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Attend one session or combine them to stay all summer.

Girls Camp

Girls Camp is WeHaKee's signature overnight experience for girls ages 7 to 17. Campers spend their days swimming, creating, exploring, laughing with cabinmates, and trying things that help them grow more confident and independent. Whether a girl is coming to camp for the first time or returning for another summer, she is welcomed into a close-knit community where she can be fully herself.

At WeHaKee, girls build real friendships, take healthy risks, and learn by doing. From mornings on the lake to evenings filled with songs, games, and cabin traditions, every part of the day is designed to help girls feel connected, capable, and free. Camp is fun, but it's also meaningful. Girls leave with memories they will keep for life and a stronger sense of who they are.

What Makes It Special

WeHaKee has been creating this kind of summer experience since 1923. The setting, the traditions, and the pace of camp all work together to give girls a chance to unplug, try new things, and grow in a way that feels natural and lasting.

FAQs

Have questions?

How do I register and is there still space?

Registration for 2026 is open. Sessions fill on a first-come basis, and a $500 deposit holds your spot. You can start enrollment on the WeHaKee website or reach out to Stacie and Cory directly at info@wehakeecampforgirls.com or 608-787-8304 if you want to talk through sessions before committing.

If you're not sure which session is right for your daughter, that conversation is worth having. It's part of what they're there for.

See 2026 session dates and enrollment details.

Is financial aid or a tuition grant available?

Yes. Camp WeHaKee offers tuition grants to help families who need financial support. In 2026, WeHaKee committed $29,817.50 in grant funding. There's no formal application process. Just email Stacie and Cory directly at info@wehakeecampforgirls.com, let them know you're interested in tuition assistance, and they'll take it from there.

What does ACA accreditation mean for my family?

The American Camp Association accredits camps that meet approximately 300 health, safety, and program standards. It's a voluntary process, which means camps that pursue it are choosing to be held accountable, not just meeting a legal minimum.

For families, it means WeHaKee's practices around staff screening, emergency protocols, waterfront supervision, and facility standards have been reviewed by an outside body. It's not a guarantee that nothing will ever go wrong. It's a guarantee that the systems are in place to handle it when something does.

How WeHaKee has kept girls safe for over 100 years.

What is the staff-to-camper ratio at WeHaKee?

The overall ratio at WeHaKee is 4:1. Each cabin has two counselors for up to eight campers. That's a meaningful level of individual attention, and it's part of why girls feel known here rather than just supervised.

More on how WeHaKee's safety structure works in practice.

Can my daughter attend if she has dietary restrictions or health needs?

Yes. WeHaKee works with families to accommodate dietary needs and manage medical conditions during a session. When you register, there's a section to share health information, and the team will follow up if they need more detail.

If your daughter has something specific that requires a conversation before you commit, email info@wehakeecampforgirls.com or call 608-787-8304. It's worth talking through before registration so there are no surprises on Opening Day.

Does my daughter need to have any prior experience with the activities?

No. WeHaKee's nearly 40 activities are designed for all experience levels, from girls who have never held a paddle to girls who have been riding horses for years. Campers are grouped and instructed based on where they are, not where other people are.

First-time swimmers, first-time artists, first-time campers, all welcome. That's most of the people here.

What happens if my daughter gets sick at camp?

Camp WeHaKee has a resident nurse on staff with more than 20 years of experience. The Band Aid, which is what campers call the health center, handles day-to-day illness and injury. An AED is on site, and the nearest emergency room in Hayward is about 30 minutes away.

If something requires a parent's attention, you'll hear from us directly. We don't wait or minimize. We call.

What if my daughter gets homesick?

Homesickness is real and normal, and the staff at WeHaKee are trained to handle it. Most cases are strongest in the first 48 hours and ease up quickly once a girl finds her rhythm and her people. Counselors watch for it, sit with girls who are struggling, and know how to help without making it worse.

The best thing a parent can do is write letters that express excitement about what she's doing rather than how much you miss her. Saying 'I can't wait to hear about the horses' lands differently than 'I miss you so much.' One keeps her present. The other pulls her home.

Can we contact our daughter during her session?

Campers don't have phones at WeHaKee. That's intentional and it's one of the things families consistently say they appreciate most about camp, even the ones who were nervous about it going in.

You can send letters and care packages any time. Letters mailed to camp arrive at Valley Time in the afternoon. You can also send digital letters through the Campanion app, which get printed and delivered to your daughter daily. If something urgent comes up, the WeHaKee team is reachable by phone at 608-787-8304.

Full guide to how Campanion works at WeHaKee.

What if my daughter doesn't know anyone at camp?

Most girls arrive not knowing a single person. That's not the exception at WeHaKee, it's the norm. Counselors are specifically trained to help girls find their footing in the first couple of days, and cabins are intentionally sized so no one gets lost in the crowd.

By day three, the friendships tend to form on their own. Camp has a way of doing that faster than almost any other environment. Girls are thrown together, doing real things, away from the usual social dynamics of school. It accelerates connection.

Here's what actually happens in those first 48 hours at camp.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellations before March 1 receive a full refund minus the $500 non-refundable deposit. Cancellations in March receive a 50% refund. Cancellations April 1 or later are non-refundable.

Cancellations due to documented illness or injury are reviewed individually. If you need to cancel, contact us directly at info@wehakeecampforgirls.com or 608-787-8304 and we'll work through it with you.
