A Nurse is in residence at Camp WeHeKee throughout the summer. They are responsible for the management and dispensing of medications, care of campers and staff who may be experiencing minor illness or injury, determining appropriate care for more serious medical situations, and for consultation for the overall health and safety of the camp program and property.
Camp WeHaKee has a fully equipped Health Center (the BandAid!) including the availability of an external electronic defibralator (AED). We are 30 minutes from clinic and emergency room care in both Hayward and Ladysmith, Wisconsin. And we are served by First Responders and ambulance units from nearby Winter, Wisconsin.
Co-Director, Bob Braun, is a currently certified and experienced trainer in American Red Cross (ARC) Standard First Aid, CPR and AED usage. He arranges for instruction leading to ARC certification for each staff member not currently certified in First Aid and CPR.
Co-Director, Maggie Braun, is an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and professional rescuer. She provides supervision and support for all of Camp WeHaKee's currently certified lifeguards, ensuring that all of our aquatic activities are effectively supervised and operated.
Camp WeHaKee is fully accredited by the American Camp Association, and annually meets or exceeds over 300 standards in areas such as:
